Eating out is tricky when trying to avoid inorganic wheat and polyunsaturated oils. My first priority for not letting a restaurant visit make me gain weight or feel sluggish the next day is to feed myself healthy before I go. I will usually have a glass of milk before going out and another one when I get home so that the saturated fat keeps me from storing the skin aging polyunsaturated ones. Since I don’t eat meat at night, because it ruins my sleep, choices are even slimmer for me to find healthy choices. There are a few restaurants in my area that I tend towards because they have a few “Peaty” options and this rustic gastropub is one of them. At this place I order the bacon wrapped dates with gorgonzola cheese and balsamic reduction and a crème brulee. Though the bacon in these bacon wrapped dates is not refried in refined coconut oil like Ray Peat suggests, the gorgonzola cheese offsets that. The saturated fat in the crème brulee protects me even more. It is a decadently fatty meal, but the good fats and sugars are great in the evening for sleep. If I am not getting great sleep then my metabolism slows down which promotes weight gain. My first priority is quality not calories and low fat. Anything low fat at a restaurant is going to be chicken or something with seed oils and in the long run it isn’t worth it to me to add toxins to my body for the sake of a pound.
