Here is the rest of that email….
Me: “She said “Yes using Norco plus Tylenol every 8 hours.” I did not expect Concord grape juice and milk. You always surprise me with your answers.”
Ray Peat: “I think it could be a toxic effect of the drugs. Besides the antiinflammitory foods, thyroid and progesterone can have restorative effects in nerves.”
I think that this an example of the old adage let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food.
Might I be so bold to ask (if not to personal of course), did your fathers girlfriend take the advice? If so how did the protocol work on her condition?
I passed it on to her, but you know how people are, thinking it has to be more complicated than that? Ray Peat said he would recommend aspirin for cancer and they thought it too good too be true.
I’ve never heard Ray suggest Grape Juice before. I wonder if there’s a specific purpose beyond raising glucose levels
I’m guessing it is something specific about grape juice, like orange peels, it has anti-inflammatory chemicals.
I know that grape juice does inhibit the uptake of methionine, which is one of the three amino acids that Dr Peat said were to be kept at a minimum level, along with cysteine and tryptophan.
“Grapes also boast the antioxidant called resveratrol, which may protect against cancer by reducing inflammation and blocking the growth of cancer cells. Grapes also contain catechins, quercetin and anthocyanins, other antioxidants which may be a powerful combination against cancer.”

I’ve been wanting to try this the next time I’m in pain. Is there a specific type of pain or can it be back pain from working in the garden?
I think this advice it is good for any pain. I do wonder why the alternation of each though? I wish I would have asked that question. Be sure it is the purple grape juice, not the white. I seem to remember him saying that.
I tried the grape juice alternating with milk for my Shingles pain. It didn’t work for me. I wasn’t quite sure how to implement it but over the course of 3 days I tried 2 methods. Pouring a glass of milk and a glass of grape juice and taking alternating sips. It gave me a sense of well being but short lived. The next day I tried having a glass of grape juice and then an hour or so later, having a glass of milk. I couldn’t see any results from this. It may be cumulative but when you’re in pain you want instant relief.
His recommendation was for numbness and nerve damage and “may” also help with pain. I think you are right it probably needs to be cumulative. That combo sounds really good right now!
I have always preferred grape juice to orange juice. There is an old book called The Grape Cure. Good read.
Thanks for that recommendation Wabbit. I found it on Amazon and ordered it, for only ten dollars.
