Fresh Orange Gatorade

This drink has been my favorite for losing weight and maintaining for a couple of years now. Fruit in itself can be fattening and certainly many people don’t appreciate the bloating that can go with eating fruit, because of the fiber. Fruit is packed with a lot of calories too, so I dilute juices or make fruit waters to take advantage of their valuable nutrients. I use this drink to keep me going for long periods between meals, like a slow IV drip. I find it funny how the medical industry calls sugar and salt unhealthy, yet what is the first thing they pump into your arm in the hospital? Sugar and salt.

To make my magic weight loss IV, I squeeze three good ripe oranges, and strain off the pulp into a big glass mug, about 3/4 cup worth. I add in about 1.5 cups worth of water, about 2 tablespoons of sugar and about 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of salt. I love the sweet and salty together!

“A daily diet that includes milk and
orange juice provides fructose and other sugars
for general resistance to stress, but larger
amounts of fruit juice, honey and other
(appropriate) sugars can protect against
increased stress and can reverse some of the
established degenerative conditions.” -Ray Peat
