      This doesnt seem right to me. Im lactose intolerant and grass fed beef is expensive.  So what am I meant to eat?? Chicken isn’t peaty and neither is rabbit or wild game really…

      I think Peat was very wrong about beans

        Have you read any of Ray Peat’s articles? You can have immediate gratification eating beans as well as your peanut butter and many other things like supplements, but that doesn’t mean anything. It is the long term effects that I am concerned about in my diet. You can’t be the judge of if Dr. Peat was right when you are doing so many things he warns against. And chicken can be acceptable if you do like I do and stick to the the wings which is valuable because of it’s gelatinous skin. I boil the PUFA out of mine before broiling or frying them up in refined coconut oil. Wild game is a great meat to eat since those animals live naturally off of the land rather than eating an unhealthy diet of corn, soy, grains and antibiotics…

          Wild game will still suppress the thyroid with the methionine

          and chicken has even more methionine than beef iirc

           

          I agree about the peanut butter but beans feel great for my digestion and are naturally very low PUFA, possibly lower PUFA than fatty beef as this already has some PUFA  even though its 5 percent of the fat or so.

           

          Also wasn’t peat eating vegetables before he died? I think its worth looking at what people did before they died. Its like you suddenly make up your mind about whats right in a sense??

            Dr Peat talks about Phytohaemagglutinin being so scary and dangerous but its really deactivated by cooking and soaking the beans beforehand…

People in the middle east have been eating all sorts of funny legumes for thousands of years and they were a pretty advanced society at times????

            Boiling for 10 minutes deactivates it. I don’t understand why he was talking about it as if we are eating raw beans…

             

            My family gets the shits eating beans and yet I have been eating beans for months now and I am used to them and no problems…

              I like beans and they give me  no issues, but a person need to have a lot of other nutrients to balance plain old soaked beans. I see nothing wrong with having a little beans like Ray enjoyed a little hummus, I just wouldn’t trade high quality proteins for them. Many cultures get by well sprouting them, not just soaking them, turning them into a vegetable instead of a starch. Opening a can of beans and eating them are not the same.…

                I dont really eat many canned ones except for baked beans in tomato sauce but I cook often with dried beans and they are really good. I usually soak them overnight or for 24 hours. I don’t see  how beans aren’t nutritious, they are easily more balanced than red meat. They have iron, zinc, copper, folate, b vitamins and also have carbs as part of the package. Even beans on their own are a very balanced meal compared to a piece of beef which is pure protein, b vits, zinc, selenium and not much else. No fibre or carbs.

                The only reason you would associate meat with a high quality protein is because it used to be considered high status to eat meat because of you being born after the war  and the generation that lived through the wars would associate meat with status but that is irrelevant to the biological reality

                biologically speaking beans are a less inflammatory protein with a better amino acid composition than animal meat, animal meat and dairy (but less so dairy) is inflammatory, peat talked about inflammatory muscle meats. Also  when we look it up these amino acids always suppress  thyroid function.

                Beans are also high in lysine which lowers serotonin. Peat spoke all about how good dopamine is at making us happy. Most animal products have a lot of  tryptophan which rasies serotonin. Even dairy to a degree. Plant foods just dont have this, in fact looking at the amino acid composition (serotonin is made from tryptophan)  it must be plant foods that make us happiest because they contain less ingredients for us to make neurotransmitters that contribute to us being miserable

                 

                Also a lot of people gain weight on peat eating, maybe plant based would be better for that since you technically get more minerals and vitamins per  calorie in plant food

                  @questforhealth I came from a high bean diet as a vegetarian and on the Blood Type diet and they eventually caused issues so I went back to eating a  grain free diet eating meat and dairy and I now have no health issues. So for me I will be avoiding beans still, but I hope they get you to that better state of health you are looking for.

                      I know 100% a plant based diet is it, I think we just need to figure out what each person needs to eat etc and why they cant handle certain food. Im pretty sure it just lies in the  gut biome which means people cant digest plant foods for some strange reason

                        Weight gain, leg aches at night and sensitive teeth mostly.
