A Bright Life Inspired by Dr. Raymond Peat
I personally like Shiitake and Maitake for cooking. We have a local high quality organic supplier of these two. When I make my beef stew, I add these in along with onions. Yummy…
I do not eat button mushrooms also called cremini nor the oversized version called Portobello. Nor do I like trumpet mushroom. These feel like a healthy addition to my diet. I eat them maybe every few months or so…”
This makes sense Lolli. I never heard RP talk about these other beneficial mushrooms. I have some shiitakes in my fridge now ready for soup. They are so rich and decadent with so much flavor for so very little of them. I just posted in another thread today that they are a good source of copper too.
I vaguely remember they were high in copper. Thanks for the reminder!
I agree with you that Shiitake are rich and add tons of flavor. 🤤
The Maitake mushrooms have such substance to them the go nicely with meat also adding yummmy flavor. You will really like them!!. Also Maitake are great for your immune system and help heal cancer.

I am liking the lion’s mane mushrooms lately. The are good at mocking other meats. i made mick crab cakes with them and they were wonderful. I linked the recipe below for you…
@cari…thanks for tagging me!!
Yummmmy…I will try them! Your recipe looks amazing 🤩 There is a store that sells them here from a local supplier.
This is the company Paul Stamets created and he developed the formulas. I am not sure if he is still involved, but the formulas are stellar.
I like the liquid extracts and in particular the My Community Extract for an extra boost for the immune system. I only take this for a brief time if I feel I need it, but it always exists in my “medicine kit” – other than aspirin and Cortnon I do not use any products from pharmaceutical companies.
Here is a great research about immune benefits of Turkey Tail

“Which is better, lion’s mane or turkey tail?
Turkey tail vs. lion’s mane—while both provide solid nutritional support, your choice will depend on your individual health and wellness goals. A lion’s mane supplement taken daily provides unmatched support for the brain and nervous system, while turkey tail promotes an efficient immune response.”

Very interesting discussion about Chaga Mushrooms! I had stopped making my Chaga soda and Chaga tincture. Now I am feeling motivated again 🙂
