One very good thing about the recent 2024 election is that it brought focus to the issue of high PUFA seed oils, and the potential damage that they do. This is coming from some fairly big corporate media outlets, including Fox News. Here’s a recent segment featuring Robert F. Kennedy Jr.-

This is one of the biggest health issues, and I like that RFK Jr. pointed out that a big reason these oils are so “cheap” is that they are subsidized. He points out some of the issues with additives as well (hopefully, iron, aka “ferrous sulfate” will be on that list).

I’ve been seeing more discussion of the dangers of high PUFA seed oils on other outlets as well (like The Megyn Kelly Show). I think this issue is getting more coverage now than it has at any time in the past (and coverage of these oils previously was usually done with a positive spin). With the high probability that RFK Jr. will have some sort of role in the upcoming Trump Administration, I am cautiously optimistic about potential changes in this regard.

Regardless of all that, the increased coverage of seed oils and their problems is already a big win.

@Zack Vegas
I have been posting a lot of JFK’s speaking out about so many things on my Instagram. Boy he brings to light a whole lot all over in the media that money making schemes make doctors, food companies and our government look really bad. He reminds me of Ray Peat calling out his colleagues. We need fierce brave men like these to turn things around.

I am hopeful that RFK who is well versed in the many health issues facing not only the United States, but in many countries (Canada, U.K. The E.U). Hopefully the promises made in campaigning come to fruition in policy changes, and funding for more quality and nutritionally dense foods without the numerous issues such as glyphosate and GMO’s.

The hurtle or rather mountain that needs to be overcome is the embedded bureaucracy, and highly leveraged lobbyist groups.
My prayers and hopes for a turning point for America. The promises brought them to power. The follow through and commitment after power is assumed will be the tale of the take.

RFK Jr. has been talking about chemtrails, fluoride, vaccines, and toxic foods, with a big emphasis on seed oils. This is all very good. He has a Peaty ring to his messaging. I have even seen him mention that the benefits of psychedelics should be examined. So I would bet he knows Ray’s work. But to mention Ray would be getting too far into the weeds for the general public. They keep it simple for the normies. I don’t have a big problem with that.

But when I consider it has taken until the year 2024 for someone prominent to mention chemtrails and seed oils, that makes my blood boil. RFK Jr. was cleaning up the Hudson River for years and years. All well and good. But what about those even bigger issues he was well aware of? But he’s all we’ve got right now. I do believe Trump agrees with him on all these health issues. This territory has been assigned to him to publicize and explain. Let’s hope changes are made soon. I want the chemtrails gone on Day One. (Pet peeve.)

I wish Ray were still here. To see this. And to be consulted.

Prominent people have discussed these and other issues before. Julia Child was talking about McDonald’s switch from Beef Tallow to Seed Oils after they made the switch in the 90s-

Jenny McCarthy spoke out against vaccines, as did Jim Carey, when he was dating her. But it cost them both in their careers. If you look at Jim Carey, you can see a giant hole in his career, that happened as soon as his contracts that existed before those remarks ran out.

So, it’s not that they didn’t “speak out,” so much, as that they really didn’t have the venue to speak out and reach a large audience. The Corporate Media doesn’t have the power it did, even a decade ago, and alternative media (mostly on the internet) is stronger than ever. The control apparatus isn’t there, and you aren’t limited to self printed zines, newsletters and books, public access television, speeches at the Granada Forum, and BBS boards (the early days of the internet). Ray Peat used newsletters, small speeches, and interviews on public radio to spread his ideas for decades. It wasn’t really until the last few years of his life that he got to take advantage of internet interviews and the “podcast” format.

@Zack Vegas I think that the change in Presidents could be a positive change. But it will take a monumental effort, there is a deep seated bureaucracy that as demonstrated in the COVID-19 psy-op that has been regulatory captured. It appears that Donald Trump is well aware of this given the law fare gauntlet he had to cross to get back to the White House. He appears to be serious on changing the status quo in this speech on his plans when he assumes office. The words are music to our ears, hopefully they will come to full fruition.

Agreed. Really, this bureaucracy has been established for several decades, at least. Ronald Reagan talked about it in his interview with Johnny Carson all the way back in 1974-

At 17:00, Reagan talks about how even the OMB in Washington can’t tell you how many boards, commissions, agencies and departments there are in the Federal Government. (also, at 9:10, he talks about the issue of research programs).

In the Rogan interview, Trump admits that his biggest mistake during his initial term was the appointments he made, and some of the team around him. I think this time, there is already a much better team assembled around him, some of which you can clearly see (RFK Jr, Gabbard, Vivek, Vance, etc). Trump also discussed some of the problems with big pharma and lobbyists in the Theo Von interview.

People also forget that the President isn’t the most powerful branch of the Federal Government…. Congress is. Many were critical of Trump’s actions during COVID (myself included), but it all stemmed from the CARES Act. That act passed both chambers of Congress with over 95% support. You only need 66% of Congress to override a veto, so that act was going to become law, whether Trump signed it or not. He could have taken a more defiant stance, but if he had, he might not have been able to get Amy Coney Barrett confirmed. It could also be argued that he wasn’t properly executing his executive duties, had he gone that route.

True, the power of the Executive has been growing, but actions of the Supreme Court have pushed back against some of those expansions over the past four years (the EPA decision, the reversal of the Chevron doctrine, the decision on Biden’s vaccine mandate). So, the ACB confirmation was very important, and will continue to be important for decades. Trump goes into this term with more support in both chambers of Congress, and a Supreme Court that is focused much more on the principles laid down in the Constitution of 1789. He also has his previous experience as President.

Yes, it’s a monumental task, but there are very good reasons to be somewhat optimistic.

Interesting thoughts you have posted in this thread @Zack Vegas.

Honestly, Trump does have more Congressional support this time. He has nothing to lose: two assassination attempts, conviction, and he overcame all the mud slung at him. IMO: Go in, make solid long lasting good decisions for the country. Then live out the rest of his days knowing how much good he did and die in peace.

On another note did you see the public statement made by RFK to the FDA? In effect he said, get ready, I am coming for you and your job, pack your bags.
