It is a shame that grocery store tomatoes aren’t what they should be and are a far cry from home grown. I usually don’t buy them and started growing them myself. When they aren’t quite as sweet as I wish I just give them a little sprinkle of sugar. White sugar should be a tool not a staple. It is to be used when ripe fruit or raw honey is not available, in emergencies to treat wounds, in hospital IV bags to save lives and to balance proteins to keep blood sugar levels from going up and down. Sugar in itself has no nutrition and that is THE ONLY downside of sugar, otherwise it has the same function as fruit, honey and other carbs like oats and rice. White sugar is just quicker for the body to use. The body needs sugar sources for energy and sleep. If the body doesn’t get it then it will break down proteins to get it. I am the healthiest I have ever been because it’s amazing abilities. I also have great muscle tone because of eating sugar, not needing to waste my protein to get it and I do not go to the gym. I always thought you had to work a muscle to gain muscle, but it is more about feeding muscles while keeping fat away. I shoot for about 80 grams a day of protein or higher, with the bare minimum at least 50 grams. I get most of my protein from dairy and this mozzarella and tomato bowl yesterday felt good. I put on the sprouts and strawberry mint for the vitamin K1 which is good for blood clotting and my teeth and bones. Nowadays I eat purposefully, making it tasty, but making every bite count.
“If you do not eat enough of the necessary nutrients your body will convert your muscles to sugar to keep feeding the brain what it needs and if you are eating enough sugar or things that will turn into sugar your body doesn’t have to break down its own tissues to make the necessary glucose for your blood cells and brains.”
