Dr Peat was always known for going against the grain in terms of mainstream medicine. For myself I had for a long time held the notion that salt and sugar were at the heart of many of the chronic health conditions that plague our modern health today. Turns out that I was partially right I just had the idea backwards.

A Midwestern Doctor goes into details as to how salt like sunlight is a necessary component for our health. Perhaps a revelation or a validation of Dr Peat’s work in the article is that many people in the hospitals are actually deficient in sodium and require saline drips to bring up this critical electrolyte.

The medical system has been saying salt and sugar are bad for decades and people keep getting every disease since, yet the first thing the hospital does to save a life is hook them up to a bag full of sugar and salt. So which one is it they are trying to make people sick out of the hospital or trying to kill people in the hospital?

An argument has been made for both scenarios @Cari an ideal drug has been described as one that will treat the symptoms but not the root cause, this way as in any product that is sold there is a constant demand for that product. If that product can have side effects that generate sales for another product with similar characteristics, now you have a guaranteed sales for two products and potentially more.

While morally corrupt and stripped of any ethics by its very description. From strictly a business point of view it is brilliant albeit sociopathic perhaps even psychopathic in nature.

I love the Midwestern Doctor info. It seems to be old school, the same as Ray Peat was.

For salt I use diamond Krystal kosher salt and Maldon sea salt.  Years ago atom bergstrom recommended diamond Krystal, saying it was very pure. If “leadsafemama” info is legit and accurate,  both of these salts test Clean. The diamond Krystal  website says it has less sodium by volume.

“Diamond Crystal® kosher salt was developed over 130 years ago using a craft evaporation process that creates unique hollow, multifaceted salt crystals. Unlike other kosher salts, Diamond Crystal® does not use additives nor mechanical compaction and it’s still crafted in the same facility it was originally crafted. It even contains 53% less sodium by volume compared to table salt”
