For me, the most striking food for gut health is gelatin from cooked lamb. So lamb shank or lamb stew or lamb soup–lamb shank easily being the most enjoyable for me. Beef gelatin from beef soup or stew comes in second.

“Cold-brewed coffee: Is easier on your stomach. Coffee is very acidic, and drinking too much of it can irritate the stomach and aggravate certain conditions like indigestion, GERD, and irritable bowel syndrome. Cold-brewing coffee creates a cup that’s almost two-thirds less acidic than its hot brewed counterpart.”

Cayenne pepper is really good for gut health…

“Lots of people associate spicy foods with heartburn or an upset stomach. But for many people, spice can have the opposite effect. “Cayenne pepper is really helpful for digestion,” Supan explains. “It increases gastric juices and enzyme production in the stomach, which helps us break down food.”

There’s also evidence that spicy foods like cayenne peppers can boost the good bacteria in your gut. The microbiome is a community of bacteria in your gut that are important for a healthy immune system. Capsaicin may help promote a healthy microbiom.”

This is a good clip interview with Ray Peat on raw egg yolk being antiseptic to the gut. He said he has seen raw egg yolks work curing things when nothing else worked even curing leukemia!

Foods like raw spinach, kale and almonds shred the gut with oxalates. Oxalates gather in organs, joints and other places to cause pain. I have had person experience with this mess…

I just read a site that CLAIMS stinging nettle tea regrows vili and helps with leaky gut.

I’m trying this. Also cutting out dairy.

While the science is still unclear on the exact mechanism, it is worth considering the idea that dairy is actually designed to create a leaky gut. That is, in newborns, a leaky gut may be essential to getting all the nutrients and other vital growth factors of mother’s milk directly into the bloodstream. Helpful for babies, not so much for adults who are exposed to harmful toxins and undigested food proteins that you really don’t want in your bloodstream. This might be one of the reasons that humans (and other mammals) are only designed evolutionarily to drink their own species’ milk as growing infants and not into adulthood. Food (or milk) for thought…

“The food industry is promoting the use of various gums and starches, which are convenient thickeners and stabilizers for increasing self-life, with the argument that the butyric acid produced when they are fermented by intestinal bacteria is protective. However, intestinal fermentation increases systemic and brain serotonin, and the short-chain fatty acids can produce a variety of inflammatory and cytotoxic effect. Considering the longevity and stress-resistance of germ-free animals, choosing foods (such as raw carrots or cooked bamboo shoots or cooked mushrooms) which accelerate peristalsis and speed transit through the bowel, which suppressing bacterial growth, seems like a convenient approach to increasing longevity.” -Ray Peat, PhD

This about antibiotics and the connection between a healthy amount of protective gut bacteria and   lack thereof leading to cancer and depression is an eye opener…
