As healthy as I am I’m always still
striving for better. Though I haven’t been to the gym in 30+ years I am always doing. I can walk for miles and dig holes through rock hard dirt to plant a tree in my backyard and it is invigorating instead of tiring for me. Whenever I think I have overdone it and will be sore the next day I barely feel those repercussions. The winter is here and with the cold, rains and winds I am indoors more so I find new ways to stay active. I have been doing 50 squats at my kitchen counter while waiting for something to cook or my coffee to brew and sometimes twice a day and I even started practicing my headstand lately. I love moving! I don’t want aging to sneak up on me
one day and have to dig myself out of that hole. I sat with my 100-year old friend last night and unfortunately she did not understand how valuable doing and moving is and now it is painful for her to walk or even sit now, from watching too much television. The other result of
underestimating that precautionary warning to “use it or lose it” is she misses out on everything so she wants to give up. No matter how I try to get her to move she doesn’t want to take the baby steps to get better or give up her toxic snacks. I know others who met their demise not moving or eating to enhance their life potential. A movie experience Is associated with candy and popcorn while my ultimate life experience came with this blood orange salad yesterday. I have been buying fruit in season and love blood oranges. I am even growing them as well as two Cara Cara orange trees, a Tango Tangerine, a Navel, Valencia and a Clementine. Yesterday I felt creative with one of the blood oranges I had and wanted to have the benefits of fresh sprouts and this was wonderful with thin slivers of fresh red spring onion and some really good extra virgin olive oil.

“Like other citrus fruits, blood oranges provide many other vitamins and minerals essential to your health. These include:

    potassium
    folate
    copper
    magnesium
    B vitamins

Additionally, blood oranges contain several antioxidant compounds, such as:
    chrysanthemin
    hydroxycinnamic acid
    caffeic acid
    ferulic acid
    coumaric acid”
