I have never been a regular cottage cheese or yogurt eater because of the tanginess of them both. When I found out the tanginess is lactic acid, which causes inflammation in the body, I really avoided them. Recently fellow forum member @kevin007 told me that he is straining off the lactic acid from his cottage cheese through a coffee filter so I gave it a try and I love it! So much comes out of it too over a couple of days. My full-fat Greek yogurt is almost like cream cheese! For this one this morning I mixed the cottage cheese and yogurt together and topped it with my blueberry orange marmalade flop, which didn’t thicken up, and it was a perfect pairing. This is such a good weight loss breakfast because there is hardly any fat in it, it is balanced with fruit and sugar and it has all that calcium Ray Peat said helps get that fat gone quicker.
“The ratio of calcium to phosphate is very important; that’s why milk and cheese are so valuable for weight loss, or for preventing weight gain. For people who aren’t very active, low fat milk and cheese are better, because the extra fat calories aren’t needed.” -Ray Peat
