I have been making this sauce for years and find so many places to use it. Of course pasta was always a favorite, but nowadays I don’t eat wheat much, so I have this Alfredo sauce on my chicken wings or sautéed shrimp instead, It is so fast and easy to make too, taking only about fifteen minutes.
In a small saucepan heat 3/4 cup of cream and 3/4 cup of half & half. Add to it one tablespoon of butter, 2 tablespoons of cream cheese, a half teaspoon of each garlic powder and salt. Bring this to a boil, turn down the heat, and add in one cup of coarsely grated parmesan cheese. Cook this, stirring often until it thickens, about ten minutes or so. When the sauce is done, sauté your shrimp in butter, salt it and set it in a pool of the Alfredo sauce. I like to garnish this with sweet cherry tomatoes, and chopped green onion. The cherry tomatoes lighten the richness of the sauce. This is decadent good! I generally don’t eat meat at night, but I think this dish would be a good evening meal for sleep, because of the high zinc in the shrimp and the good fats.
