I am asking for a friend about Lipedema like what causes it and what might help it?

This is an interesting condition, one that I had not been aware of. Just looking at it on the surface by a Google search it has some characteristics that resemble a metabolic syndrome condition. Estrogen levels tend to be higher with testosterone and progesterone levels being lower, but no mention of what drives the unbalanced levels of the three.

Selenium and Viamin D are noted as being typically lower, and some research indicates that the role of PUFA as a possible inflammatory mediator in the disease.

I think that I would start with these changes and assess from there, perhaps a blood and hair analysis to look for possible missing vitamins and minerals as well as heavy metals.

Maybe try some Progest-E to oppose the estradiol.

I searched the old Ray Peat Forum, and there are a couple of threads there. The usual methods to improve metabolism are the upshot. Niacinamide, lower estrogen, reduce endotoxin, etc.
