A Bright Life Inspired by Dr. Raymond Peat
I saw this research come out recently how coffee helps cardiovascular disease!
This is our Burr Grinder we use to grind the beans…
This is the French Press we use to make the cold brew. It has a double filter on it which is helpful.

This is the current coffee my husband and I love for our cold brew. We keep experimenting with other Peaberry coffees from around the world, but keep coming back to Zambia Peaberry:
A long time ago, I wanted to learn to make really good coffee. I found advice on the old Chowhounds board that African coffee was so much better than Colombian and others. I ended up ordering some fairly pricey Kenyan coffee from Peet’s. I really liked it, and I remember getting compliments from dinner guests who had no idea what they were drinking. The quality was that striking.
Alas, Peet’s no longer carries that coffee. And my nose and palate were damaged with “Covid.” I still enjoy coffee a lot, though.
“Meanwhile, higher caffeine intake was related to higher levels of another sex hormone, progesterone, the researchers report in the journal Cancer.
The findings were somewhat different among postmenopausal women. For them, greater coffee and caffeine consumption was linked only to higher levels of sex hormone-binding globulin, or SHBG. Some studies have linked higher levels of SHGB — which decreases the activity of estradiol and testosterone — to a lower risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women, Kotsopoulos and her colleagues note.”
Hi @Lilac that is interesting about African coffee! So far we have found that to be true. I will come update this thread as we keep exploring other regions. We just ordered a Bolivian so let us see. Like your experience, we did not like the Colombian peaberry that much.
