It’s not a meal I’m talking about, it’s a movie!  A really unique movie.  I think it was originally written as a play, and could easily be performed as one, as the core concept is just two men having dinner together.  That’s basically 95% of the movie.

While I certainly recommend the entire movie, a classic from 1981, there is a particular scene that really elevates it.  I post it below.  This isn’t a sort of movie that really get’s spoiled by this, but if you want to first view it in context, skip the clip and just watch the movie (I think there are lots of places you can download or watch it online for free, no streaming subscription needed).  Not only would I highly recommend it in general, I get the feeling that most people that follow Dr. Peat, and even Peat himself, would have greatly enjoyed this movie.

By the way, “Wally” is Wallace Shawn, a character actor that you might recognize from A Princess Bride.  If you don’t find that “inconceivable!”

Funny thing, the way I found this movie was that first, I heard a clip in a New Retro Wave song, then I tracked down and watched this scene, then I watched the entire movie.  The song that started it all is here-

Thanks for the tip on this Zack. When it comes to film now, I look back on something like this and I have to wonder if the filmmakers were actually able to see our present and their future coming, or was it a case of Hollywood delivering a message as to what the plans are for the future and they try to normalize this dystopian life for us to make it seem like it is the way that life has always been.
