The edit button should be working now.

Last night it was 98.2 before I went to bed and 97.8 this morning. Stunned. Normally when I took my temp before, especially in the morning my temps were always about 95.8 or 96. something. I am still having cold hands in the morning but I am hoping that my temps will continue to rise (for the right reasons). See you tomorrow!

Waist-36″
Actually gained back some weight but most probably fluid retention. Happy about another inch lost around the middle. I wasn’t as conscientious about my menu as I could have been but I am in no hurry. I added in some starch because I felt that I needed the energy. I swim most days and when I don’t swim I am working outside a lot.
Onward and upward!
March 30, 2024 at 12:36 pm #1137I’ve not kept up with this thread. If you are active the weight gain could be from building muscle mass. But, I think you can build muscle mass just from getting a sufficient amount of protein a day.
March 31, 2024 at 12:25 am #1140I think that I am getting plenty of protein and yes, I am active most every day. I am thinking of tinkering with a fruit/ juice/ dairy only diet for awhile. I have always wanted to try that.
April 3, 2024 at 7:41 pm #1169For me personally, I have had the best success with weight (and fat) loss when I tracked calories. Basically, I used the principles and techniques Anthony Colpo layed down in “The Fat Loss Bible,” while marrying them with Peat’s ideas and the bioenergetic principles. Currently, I use a fitibit tracker and Cronometer. With these tools, you can come very close to having your own “Metabolic Ward,” and have better data than 98% of Weight Loss Researchers and Gurus. And you won’t have to lock youself in a ward and depend on others. I know people have varying feelings about tech and being monitored (I’ve gone back and forth on these things myself), but I currently utilize it. And you can always strike your own balance…. sign up for a cronometer account under a pseudonym and get a non connected pedometer, for example.
In addition to Colpo and Ray Peat, I also think highly of Haidut aka Georgi Dinkov, Mike Fave, and Brad Marshall. I’m at the point where I’ve combined many of their ideas along with other research, and have come up with 12 principles I think should be focused on along with tracking.
I know there is tons of debate around CICO, but if a pound of fat is defined as 3500 calories, then you have to be in a caloric deficit to lose that pound. It’s one of those things that simply “has to be right,” but even so, doesn’t discount ideas like a surplus could be triggered at 1000 cals a day, or a deficit induced at 5000 cals.
Think of a clogged sink. Obviously, more water has gone into the sink than has come out. But when you hire a plumber, you don’t want a lecture on the first law of thermodynamics, you want him to clear the pipe so that it can drain normally.
So, becoming conscious of intake is probably a good idea, at least for a while. I would also point out that water has zero calories, and can be even more variable than fat. I’ve seen videos on youtube of people getting up to 20 liters of ascetis fluid drained from their belly. That’s basically water, and that 40+ pound weight loss didn’t involve any calories, essentially. Those may be extreme examples, but I wonder how much things like ascetis, fatty liver, inflamed intestines and such account for so called “belly fat” in the population, and that might involve water both in and outside of cells.
The other big issue I have with people who generally promote CICO (and not the idea itself) is that BMR can’t be raised in an individual. I think that’s silly. It can be done somewhat with diet, favoring saturated fat and CO over MUFA and PUFA, favoring carbs over fats, and favoring sugar over starches. Things like Red Light, CO2, and Altitude can also affect BMR. And obviously, things like Thyroid and Testosterone can also increase it.
I think the reason BMR is lowered is that there is a “block” in energy production, and FAS is over stimulated, and hunger signals are out of whack. If these can be addressed, then over time, BMR can go up.
April 14, 2024 at 10:01 pm #1370April 16, 2024 at 9:41 am #1410Hi
Is it ok to continue drinking milk/milk products being lactose intolerant? Would it cause harm to the body? Being Asian milk is not a major part of our diet.
@Zack Vegas, please continue sharing. I am interested in knowing how to reduce belly fat. My husband and son need to lose some.
Thank you.
