Kevin your situation is different with all you have been through, so I wouldn’t go overboard on the sugars. You need the extra vitamins and minerals fruit has to offer. I can tell you that I don’t eat out a lot, but when I do it is a diet killer. The only thing I can find that is not ‘”as” PUFA laden is a carne asada steak without any sides, and even that is not as good as if I ate it at home grass-fed. I NEVER order eggs in a restaurant either, they are the cheapest quality. The cheeses in restaurants are no better, pre-grated with cellulose and other who knows what in them. Restaurants buy from distributors selling food with many preservatives in them. Go to a restaurant website and look at their “nutritional information”, the list is stunning for the simplest thing! Your restaurant visits are going to be a ball and chain getting you to where you want to be. I realize there are people who cant get around that, but some strategies could minimize. Yes aspirin and vitamin E help with the PUFA’s, but they don’t help with the fat loss. My strategy is to fill up on raw milk before I go out, so I don’t eat so much there. I often bring my own Mexican Coke in a restaurant too and tell the server that I am allergic to fluoride, which is true, and that the Coke is the only thing I can drink and they never say another word.

As to your dairy, you might try having a spoonful of good raw honey after you drink your milk and see if that helps with the mucus. I know it gets rid of the white tongue milk can leave. I would be interested in what that dinner “mixed bag” consists of. One of singe best things I have done for my weight and sleep is to not eat meat at night. I can’t say enough about this one. I do not drink liquids with my meals either and my digestion is stellar. You are diluting your digestive juices doing that.

I am so proud of you Wabbit! You are the one we are watching now! That saying that “Nothing tastes as good as thin feels” is always in my head helping me to make better choices. At that moment we want something that we know we shouldn’t eat we think we are going to regret not eating that thing, but the opposite is true, and I am always regretful the next day.  I went out with a couple of friends last year to a Mexican restaurant and ate like others do, with my friend putting her fried chicken flauta on my plate and both having me tasting this and that, and I am not kidding, several hours later I looked into the bathroom mirror and my skin was greasy! I was in shock how fast that PUFA got to work messing me up!

We are all anxious to hear your progress Wabbit so post back often! Did you check out my “My Everyday” page? I posted a lot there over the last two days, with what I am eating to lose weight and maintain it. Keep up the good work!

Yup, I am reading most everything. Hope you are getting new members. I will check my weight and waist just once a week but I will report. Appetite is much more under control eating mainly milk and fruit. Really just eating one small meal a day and the rest fruit, milk, coffee, a little cheese with mex. coke.

Ok, since I am a.guinea pig (not literally, I’m a wabbit) I thought I would give a little info.

I am a 70 year old woman. 5’3, starting weight-162, waist 38 “.  I have been trying Cari’s method for one week and my weight is now 158.8, waist 37”. Mostly water weight lost I am sure. I will be weighing in on Friday mornings.

I am eating mostly dairy, fruit, grape juice, creamy, sugary coffee with collagen, and occasional beef or shrimp and I may add tilapia. I eat small meals (more like snacks) every couple of hours but only if hungry. My snacks are balanced protein with fruit.

        Ok. More later. 😁

The reasoning behind “No fluids with foods” is pretty simple-  They will lower the pH of your stomach acid, and will expand volume.  Both these could lead to digestive problems, and longer digestion times.  The HCl your stomach secretes is very low pH, from 1-3.  The simple act of eating will raise the pH (unless you are consuming Hydrocholic Acid, which certinaly is not a good idea).  If you drink 16oz of water (with a pH near 7, maybe a bit higher), you will raise stomach acid pH even more, and further increase the volume.  This can lead to undigested food, or partially digested food, or seeming to take a long time to “recover” from eating.  There is some suggestion that a bit of hard alcohol or 5oz of red wine have no effect or increase the ability of stomach to digest food, but alcohol can cause other issues.

Best part about the no liquids tricks is that it’s a simple and free thing to try.  You can still drink the same amount of liquids that you normally do (or even more), just keep them separated from meals by about 30 minutes or so.  If water is drunk on it’s own, I’ve heard the stomach can process it in as little as 5 minutes.  People who have issues with digestion probably have the greatest potential to see benefit (if they have poor stomach acid, or something like SIBO).  Drinking 30 minutes prior to a meal might even lower stomach acid even more (increasing the amount), as there is often a “rebound” effect.

If you take supplements with meals, you could always use a little liquid (maybe an ounce or two) to wash it down, if need be.

Sorry, the first paragraph should have been **raise** the pH of stomach acid.  Liquids raise the pH, while lowering stomach acid concentration.

I passed that on about the edition button not working.
