“didn’t hitler LOVE linseed oil too? what the hell is going on??”
This is so silly I can’t help but respond.
First, if you’re going to speculate about the dietary habits of WWII leaders, why not Stalin? The official numbers show that Stalin killed almost 3 times as many people as Hitler. Why don’t Stalin’s kills count?
Second, if you are going to blame Hitler’s actions on some sort of toxic agent, why not look to his WWI career as a soldier? Near the end of the war, he was hit with mustard gas, which caused him to be hospitalized for several months. At times during his recovery, he often thought he was going to be blind for life. I think mustard gas exposure and who knows what other chemicals during WWI would be much bigger factors than any linseed/flaxseed oil that was consumed.
And if you do think diet played a role, you should also remember the conditions of post WWI Germany in the 20s and early 30s. Germany was in financial ruin, caused deliberately by the Treaty of Versailles. Inflation was out of control, causing most people to be poor, and so “poverty foods” (as Ray Peat once called them) were likely consumed more over better and more expensive foods. It was also a time of rampant degeneracy, with pornography and prostitution flooding the country. There was desperation all around, and I’m sure some people went extended periods without eating at all, and probably ate poorly in general for a decade or so.
