I’ve been doing red light therapy every morning for age related receding gums for awhile now. I hold the light about 6” away from my open mouth for 20 seconds. Has anyone else tried this?
What results are you noticing? I’ve not done this.
Red light is helpful for the gums and even the back of the throat. A caveat is that exposure of the thyroid for an excess amount of time could be problematic. But definitely the light will be helpful for the mitochondria.
I’ve used red light, a bit differently…
Ray recommended incandescent “…250-500 watt, at a distance that doesn’t warm you too much, as long as you want…”
From the book “Red Light Therapy: Miracle Medicine ” it’s recommended to use a distance of 1- 2 feet, and a time of ~15 minutes. Also want to be relaxed…
sooo..for the gums, maybe lie on side facing light with mouth open….
I’ve recently used it for an oral abcess, and it seemed to work fine…

I haven’t noticed any results. There isn’t a lot of information out there. I’ve read some studies on PubMed but they’re inconclusive. I’ll keep it up. It may be something that takes awhile.
Bob, my light is infrared so I don’t think I would be able to use it as you suggested since it’s stronger. My goal was to regrow dentin layer of tooth.

Thank you for both of those articles. I feel assured that the infrared light is effective for my needs. The problem with most articles is they don’t give you the strength/power of the light and the amount of time for this power. My light is 830nm. I use it at 6” for 20 seconds. I may have to do more research.
